The industry is shifting
The way services are bought has changed across almost every industry. Hotels, flights, taxis and restaurants are found online in seconds. Customers see the options, prices and availability, and can decide whenever it suits them.
The performer business in many places still works "the old-world way". Finding the right performer often takes emails, phone calls and waiting. Prices aren't stated up front, availability is revealed later, and much of the information passes through intermediaries — booking agencies, for example.
The industry has been built around relationships and closed networks. Many performers' visibility still depends on who happens to be selling them, how active that seller is, or what kind of relationships the performer has with sellers.
We believe the event industry is also gradually moving toward a more open, more digital and more transparent way of working — one where information is easily available, options can be openly compared, and the purchase process is as smooth as possible. It isn't only about technology — customer expectations have changed.
